What is your main area of expertise?

Over 25 years experience working in Quality Management.  I studied a business management degree with a keen interest in quality and have since held Quality Management positions in a number of different sectors including automotive, aerospace and rail industries before joining police forensics 14 years ago. 

Since that time I have helped many forensics disciplines successfully achieve ISO17025 and my last role before joining TF/FCN was Head of Quality, Training and Performance at EMSOU-FS.

 

How do you help the FCN's stakeholders in policing and beyond?

Quality Management tools and techniques, and advice and support to enable more efficient and effective accreditation readiness.

 

What was your first job in policing or forensics?

To implement a new standard for police forensics at Derbyshire Constabulary - it was ISO17025!

 

What is your favourite part of your role?

I love that the whole team is committed to delivering benefits across policing, not deterred by the challenges faced.  We have such a fantastic team of people bringing so much knowledge and experience together that I feel very proud to be part of FCN.

 

What work in your career have you most enjoyed?

I particularly enjoy seeing the transformation of units and staff as they progress from initial resistance and challenges through to implementation success, becoming advocates of quality standards and embracing the benefits they bring.

How do you help the FCN’s stakeholders in policing and beyond?

Supporting the FCN and stakeholders in the analysis of performance data.

 

What is your favourite part of your role?

Working with experts. Finding trends and unlocking insightful information for the FCN and Police Forces.

 

What was your first job in policing or forensics?

This is my first role within forensics and policing. I have previously worked in Education.

 

What do you like to do outside of work?

I enjoy participating in and watching sports, playing board games, going for walks, camping and spending time with family.

Kelly Forrester

Information Assurance Manager

What is your main area of expertise?

I have been in forensics for over 20 years. During this time I have worked in Quality, Change Implementation, Service Management, Information Assurance and Data Protection.

 

How do you help the FCN’s stakeholders in policing and beyond?

I can help colleagues with information sharing, assessing risk and selecting the right tools to protect both FCN and policing assets.

 

What is your favourite part of your role?

Drawing on my experience from working with programmes of change, I enjoy advising and supporting project teams on all areas of information management from inception through to successful delivery to police forensics. I love having the opportunity to speak with like-minded colleagues across policing and helping to reduce time spent on assessments for those in busy operational roles. 

 

What was your first job in policing or forensics?

Faxing out DNA Match Reports at the Forensic Science Service.

Chris Davies

What is your main area of expertise?

My main areas of expertise are Quality Management Systems and Quality Standards, including ISO 17025 & 17020 as well as FSR Code Compliance including Declarations. I am part of the National SFR Board and have been involved in Validation supporting Fire Investigation and currently Friction Ridge Detail.

 

What is your favourite part of your role?

Being able to support the national forensic community, bringing about necessary changes in SFR and generally supporting a unified approach to forensics among forces.

 

What was your first job in policing or forensics?

I have a legal background and practiced as a Solicitor before changing career and taking my first job in policing as an Evidence Processor getting evidence ready for court. After progressing to becoming an Evidence Review Officer working closely with the CPS I became a Force Intelligence Supervisor within Real Time Intelligence before later joining the Forensic Department as a Quality Officer.

 

 What do you like to do outside work?

I enjoy spending time with my family, attending concerts and events. I am also a semi-active member of an amateur theatre group acting on the group committee while also performing in and directing plays.
